Ο Λαογραφικός Πολιτιστικός Όμιλος Αμπελοκήπων ιδρύθηκε το 1993 και σήμερα αριθμεί πάνω από 65 μέλη όλων των ηλικιών, που αγαπούν την πλούσια ελληνική λαογραφική παράδοση. Στόχος και όραμα είναι: η προώθηση της λαογραφικής έρευνας σε εξειδικευμένο επίπεδο με τη διοργάνωση σεμιναρίων, η έρευνα και καταγραφή παραδοσιακών χορών, τραγουδιών και εθίμων και η παρουσίαση αυτών σε λαογραφικά οδοιπορικά και αφιερώματα, από όλη την Ελλάδα και κυρίως από τις περιοχές της Μακεδονίας, Θράκης, Αν. Ρωμυλίας, Πόντου, Κρήτης και Μ. Ασίας.
Όλες οι παρουσιάσεις συνοδεύονται με ζωντανή παραδοσιακή μουσική και παραδοσιακές φορεσιές (αυθεντικές και πιστά αντίγραφα) από την εκάστοτε γεωγραφική και λαογραφική περιοχή.
Ο Λαογραφικός Πολιτιστικός Όμιλος Αμπελοκήπων εχει συμμετάσχει σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ όπως:
- Βουλγαρία (1989)
- Τουρκία ( Προύσα 2001 , Κωνσταντινούπολη 1991/ 2005 , Γιάλοβα 2003/ 2004 όπου και πήρε το 2ο βραβείο ανάμεσα σε 11 χώρες παρουσιάζοντας χορούς από τον Πόντο/ 2008 , Καλλίπολη 2010)

Folklore Cultural Association of Ampelokipi was founded in 1993 by dancers and dance teachers, all members of the Presentation Ensemble of the Cultural Center of the municipality of Ampelokipi, Thessaloniki.
The Association’s aim is the research and passing through of the Greek folklore culture. It has participated in many festivals in Greece and in International Dance Festivals abroad such as:

- Spain (1995)
- Hungary (1997, 2012)
- Italy (1998)
- Czech Republic (Brno, 1999/ 2007, Karlovy Vary, 2004)
- Turkey (Istanbul, 1991/ 2005, Bursa, 2001, Yalova, 2003/ 2004, where the Association’s Ensemble won the 2nd prize among 11 countries, performing dances from Pontus/ 2008)
- Egypt (Cairo, 2002)
- U.S.A. (Philadelphia, 2006)
- Sweden (Stockholm, 2010)
- Croatia (Zagreb, 2011)
- FYROM (Ohrid, 2014)
The Association’s Ensemble presents dances, songs and customs from all around Greece, but mainly from the regions of Macedonia, Thrace, Eastern Romilia, Pontus and Asia Minor, always accompanied by live performed traditional music and traditional costumes from the actual region presented each time.
The Association collaborates harmonically with the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Ampelokipi that was founded in 1983. It is also grateful for the help that receives by the Municipality of Ampelokipi and other significant factors of Northern Greece.
Today the Association has approximately 65 members, all dancers, dance teachers, musicians and people who love our traditional culture and civilization.
